The Northern Classics Quilt Ladder has been a best-seller at Quiltshome over the past few Christmas seasons. This piece is crafted from Northern white cedar that is native to the Adirondack region. Craftsmen at Old Adirondack dry the wood in a kiln, but otherwise leave it untreated. Cedar’s slow absorbency rate and loss reduces cracking and swelling common with other hardwoods. Resistant to decay and disease, the wood turns a lovely, silver-gray over time if left unfinished. For those who prefer to finish or paint the unit, the wood arrives prepared for treatment. Durable mortise and tenon joinery and zinc hardware hold ladder frame and rungs together. Some assembly is required. This quilt ladder stands 79 inches high with a 41-inch-wide base and 22-inch-wide top. When shipped, the item weighs 17 pounds.
