Santa Barbara Quilting Retreats

Santa Barbara, California, Quilting Retreats has their 2007 schedule up, with retreats in three different locations throughout beautiful Santa Barbara. The first retreat of the year to date is “Goddess of the Last Minute” with Robbi Joy Eklow, a retreat that echoes the title of the column she writes for Quilting Arts Magazine. This retreat will be held at the Day’s Inn in Buellton, California from 9-12 February 2007. Learn Robbi’s innovative techniques to create sophisticated art quilts as described in her book Free Expression: The Art and Confessions of a Contemporary Quilter, just released in 2006. During this fun and relaxing weekend, each student will pick from several full sized patterns specifically designed for this class, to complete one or two 18″ x 24″ tops. Fused applique will be taught in class, however the designs can be used with traditional methods as well. Robbi will also help students work with their own designs in this method. Fused bindings will be demonstrated, free motion quilting and dyeing techniques will be discussed. Free motion quilting methods will also be presented on Monday morning.
