Quilters’ Workshop of Tampa Bay

The 17th annual Quilter’s Workshop of Tampa Bay (Florida),entitled “World of Whimsy,” will feature a vendors mall of 20 shops, a tea room, quilting demonstrations, appraisals, book signings and a boutique offering hand-made gifts by local quilters. The show will also include its traditional live auction of small quilts made by guild members, with proceeds to benefit the Salvation Army Worship Center. The small quilts, several of which are featured on the organization’s Web site, stand alone as strong works of art. They depict whimsical fish, baskets of flowers, folksy cats and a woman tending her garden. Marilyn Hood took first-place honors for her beautiful still-life of a red apple set against a blue and green backdrop.

Certified quilt appraiser, historian and well-known Florida quilter Teddy Pruett will appraise quilts brought in by the public at the event. Pruett is trained to evaluate fabric, dates, patterns, construction techniques, regional variations and other factors that influence quilt values. She will be available for written and verbal appraisals of quilts for a fee. Visit Quilter’s Workshop for more information.
