The Museum of East Texas presents Quilts! Quilts! Quilts!, an exhibition featuring 52 quilts ranging from 1840 to Art Quilts created in 2007. The opening reception for Quilts! Quilts! Quilts! is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, 4 March. The exhibition is co-curated by C. James Haley, Jr. and J.P. McDonald. Quilts will be on display from 4 March through 31 May. Dr. Billye Raye Lipscomb, daughter of renowned primitive artist Ruby Yount, will lecture from 2 to 4 p.m. April 22. Additional public programs are being planned and will be announced throughout the length of the exhibit.
The Museum of East Texas is a non-profit organization whose primary mission is education through exhibitions of art and history. Located at 503 North Second Street in Lufkin, hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The museum is closed on Monday.
