QuiltsHome began operation on July 18, 1999 as a section under what was then the personal site of goinhome. That site began with the “Original Gallery.” When traffic to the site increased, the “Original Gallery” was transferred to new servers in December 1999 and it operated under the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) of lindagoin.org. The site has expanded and was generated “live” on May 22, 2000 under the name and URI (Uniform Resource Indicator) of QuiltsHome. I (Linda Goin) remain the sole owner and operator for this site.
My experience includes degrees in fashion and graphic design, an undergraduate degree in visual communication, and a master’s degree in history. I owned a retail fabric/bead/organic coffee shop in Norwood, Colorado (hey - it was a small town and I had to mix it up…), and I continue to make artwork in mixed media collages with paper and fabric. Now for some other issues:
Why Register? Why Log in?
Two reasons why I’ve arranged this blog so that you have to register and log-in to comment on this site: 1) Spam artists are clever, and registration makes it more difficult for those buggers to leave comments, and; 2) If you take the time to register, then I know that you have serious intent - if you intent is malicious, then I have a record to find you. If you don’t harbor malicious intent, then I still have a record to find you, but for more pleasurable reasons. Thanks!
No Contact Information
No, there’s no contact information for me for now - maybe in a few weeks. I’ve been hit by too-many-to-number spam artists, and I’m tired of deleting emails, searching through my spam filter for client emails, and so on. If you have my email address, use it if you need to talk with me. Otherwise, you can just leave a comment after any given post and I’ll receive it. While the site won’t show your email when you register or log in to post a comment, I’ll recieve it when you post a comment. You can even say, “Linda! Contact me! But delete this message!” and I’ll delete that comment as soon as I receive the email. Otherwise, I’m in my cave, working away and watching the spam mail slowly dry up.
No more “Open New Windows”
You might notice that all links that point to sites away from fungifest do not open new windows. I changed my attitude about spawning new windows when I realized how much control I was taking out of my viewers’ hands. If you don’t know how to open a new window and you’d like to do so, all you need to do is point your mouse at a link and right click. A little pop-up window will ask you what you want to do, and you pick “open this page in a new window.” Easy. Or, you can just leave this site and hit your back button, find me in your history, or search for me on Google. I’ll be here.
